We recently took in four five-month-old puppies suffering from one of the most severe cases of demodectic mange our team has ever seen. Their skin is raw, inflamed, swollen, and bleeding, and most of their fur is completely gone. One puppy can barely open her eyes, and all four arrived weak, exhausted, and clearly in pain after suffering for far too long.

Because of the compassion of Houston Pets Alive! supporters, we were able to step in immediately and bring these puppies to safety the moment we saw them. Now, they are beginning a long healing process that will require ongoing veterinary care, medicated baths, pain management, and weeks of close monitoring.
Mange this severe does not heal quickly, but with proper treatment and time, recovery is possible.
