Houston Pets Alive! depends on your generous donations to keep saving lives.  You can help in many different ways, some of which are at no cost to you!

Join Team HPA!, powered by Reason2Race! Participate in any Houston partner events/races and raise funds for HPA! Find an upcoming race and join HPA!’s team here. Your participation also allows HPA! to host a marketing table at the same race, so your participation provides HPA! the opportunity to reach hundreds, if not thousands of people to help advance our mission!

    Team Houston Pets Alive!
    Team HPA! provides you the opportunity to set a goal for yourself and add a fun level of motivation and accountability to reaching it. We invite you to pick one event this season to be the one that challenges you to reach your goal while making a difference for the cats and dogs that HPA! saves.
    Facebook fundraisers are another easy way to raise money for HPA! Facebook waives all credit card fees, which means 100% of every donation comes straight to HPA!

    You might want to set up a fundraiser in honor of your pet, for your or your child’s birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, graduation, confirmation, other special occasions or really, for no reason other than to help saves cats and dogs from euthanasia!

    How your fundraiser helps:

    $200 Goal
    Supports a spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and preventatives for one rescued pet
    $400 Goal
    Supports a neonatal kitten needing bottle feeding and specialized, around-the-clock care
    $600 Goal
    Supports a healthy pet from the time it is saved from euthanasia all the way through adoption
  • 1. First, share your Facebook fundraiser with family and close friends (perhaps via email with the direct link) before sharing it with everyone you know on Facebook. Once you have some momentum, you can start sharing as widely as possible by clicking the Invite button.
  • 2. Don’t forget to post your fundraiser on your own Facebook page’s timeline. Click on the “share” button on the fundraiser to do this.
  • 3. Use text, images, and videos to tell your story, convey emotions and invite empathy.
  • 4. Keep sharing updates with a frequency of several posts in a week. Stick to a limit of one post daily.
  • 5. Share HPA! Facebook posts that inspire others to donate to your Facebook fundraising page.
  • 6. Make your updates fun, captivating, and snappy. Updates spur conversation which in turn raises awareness. Upload a new picture and write a personal message. When you hit a fundraising milestone, post it as a note on the “write something” part. Example: Today is the 11th! I am asking everyone to donate $11.
  • 7. When uploading pictures, tag yourself and anyone else in them.
  • 8. Use hashtags, especially #houstonpetsalive.
  • 9. Thank each and every donor who donates to your Facebook fundraising page with a personal comment.
  • 10. Encourage your invitees to invite their own Facebook friends to like, share, and follow your Facebook fundraising page and Houston Pets Alive! It’s a ripple effect to spread awareness. Each time someone donates they are prompted to share and invite their friends. Shares and re-shares contain a donate button making it easy to donate right from the news feed. You will be reaching more supporters and hopefully engaging your community.
  • 11. Ultimately, the success will rely on frequently posting, sharing, and connecting with others on social media. Updates will get your audience’s attention, give them something to share with their own friends, and inspire people to donate.
  • 12. Add your Facebook fundraising link to all your updates. Tip: Don’t put the link in your status update but post the link in the comment field after you posted an update. Facebook has a new algorithm.
  • 13. HAVE FUN and know that you are saving lives!

    Houston Pets Alive! provides every cat and dog in our program with food, shelter, veterinary services, and of course, TLC.     Houston Pets Alive! is a registered charity in the Kroger’s Community Rewards program. When you enroll and use your savings card at the register, Houston Pets Alive! will receive donations based on your purchase volume. Please take a minute to enroll!

We keep these lists up to date so you know your donation will go straight to helping the cats and dogs in our care. Thrift accepts new and gently used name brand and high-end women and junior clothing (all sizes), shoes, jewelry, accessories, home decor and accents, artwork, small furniture, antiques, memorabilia, kitchenware, and NEW pet accessories. Donations can be brought to HPA! Thrift at 2532 Nottingham Street.

    HPA! Thrift DOES NOT accept used pet accessories, electronics, rugs, bedding, children/baby items, toys, or menswear.
