Will you sponsor a dog’s heart worm treatment?

Nearly every Saturday, we host a dog adoption event at our 2800 Antoine Drive facility. But this Saturday, things will be a little different. Instead of dozens and dozens of dogs finding their forever homes, over 100 HPA! alums will be receiving heart worm treatment, at NO cost to their adopters!

At Houston Pets Alive!, heart worm status is not a death sentence like it often is at municipal shelters. When heart worm positive dogs get scheduled to be euthanized, we swoop in to save them.

On average, pet owners have to pay between $500-$1,100+ to treat a heart worm positive dog, depending on the size, vet, and stage of the disease. When you adopt a heart worm positive dog from HPA!, heart worm treatment is FREE! Though heart worm disease can be very serious and event fatal, it is also very treatable, and we never want a known medical condition with hefty bills attached to be a deterrent to adopting a precious pup.

While there is no cost for treatment to our adopters, unfortunately we do bare the burden of roughly $300 per dog treated. That means this weekend’s heart worm treatment of 100+ dogs will cost HPA! upwards of $30,000! (Yikes!)

Can you sponsor a dog’s heart worm treatment and make them heart worm free?!
